Great course
Friendly staff and the course was in good shape! Pace of play was a bit slow, but overall a great experience. I was paired with others whom had played the course previously and it was a big help to hear before hand where the trouble locations for each hole were!
Awesome
Course is n great shape, it stacked up pretty fast but the scenery made up for the slow play. Will play again soon. Thxs
Extreme Value
No place else has the value factor that this course contains. Challenging, undulating greens, great views, worth every penny. Sand bunkers need some work however, as there are many small rocks mixed into the wash sand/dirt. Wish there was some more fluff to the sand but, it's a geographical hindrance.
Mike
Very scenic! Challenging course, a couple of the tee boxes could have been marked better! Other than that it was a beautiful course to play, we are on vacation and decided to play here, well worth the decision!
One of America's best municipals
I had high expectations, having heard about this course for years, but never getting a chance to play it. I wasn't disappointed. This is right up there with any daily fee or private course in the west. Conditioning, views and design are all top notch. Plenty of elevated tees, variety of holes and a really cool signature par-3 with a huge rock strategically placed behind the green.
Excellent course
Every time I play at piñon hills I receive good service and the course is in good shape. They need more courses like piñon. :)
It's always something.....
I play this course about once a year because we have family in Farmington and I always seem to leave disappointed. This year the issue was pace of play. The group of "hacks" in front of us had absolutely no clue and they caused a 5 + hour round. After a phone call to the pro shop, the ranger kept telling them to pick it up and they would not. In fact at the turn he said that they were 30 minutes behind so he said that he would talk to them but he did I notT. Soon thereafter he decided to leave for the day and was not replaced. Then these clowns added a fifth golfer!!! What a joke and the course did nothing. To top it off, the guy in the snack shop was a real jerk! Needless to say we will no longer be playing Piñon Hills. Too bad because it is a good course.
needs water
have always loved this course however because it is city owned, budgets are tight and it seems that the golf course gets the short end when it needs water the most.
Best value for the Money.
We played Pinion hills on a frosty November day. For the time of year the course was in excellent condition.
The pace of play was good and the staff was friendly. I highly recommend this course to anyone in the area.
The greens were frozen so the didn't hold all that well but as the day went on the greens thawed a little and you could get a little bite on the ball.
superb condition..
This course is an interesting challenge of hole shapes and multi tiered greens. Pay attention to the hole locations and make every effort to hit approach shots to the right tier,,,,,,to have any chance of bird or par. Note the holes with water flanking the greens (scrutinize the score card pics). Can create unpleasant surprises. Can't wait to go back.
Very Windy
Great course. Due to the very windy conditions, it made for tough conditions. We asked and were told it can be windy most of the time. We seemed to be on the edge of a cold front. With the no refund policy, we gave it a shot (no pun intended).
Don't miss the opportunity to plsaoy Pinõn Hills!
I've finally been able to play Pinõn Hills after first becoming aware of it over 20 years age. The wait was worth it! Excellent condition from tee-box to green.
Greens are tough and three-putts are common. Almost better to miss the green and give yourself a chance to get up and down in two rather than trying to putt from 60' away on the fast, undulating surface.
That being said, too bad the San Francisco Bay Area is so far away from Piniõn Hills, otherwise I'd be out there playing several tines a week!
This course was challenging and the greens were fast.
We arrived early from Albuquerque and walked around the facility. It is very well kept and the staff was very friendly! We booked through Golfnow and that worked out great. Just handed the email confirmation and that was it.
This course is beautiful.
This course is the most beautiful course in 100 square mile radius. Nothing around compares to it . Staff is friendly, they get the condition in tip top shape. The only sad part I noticed comes from the players who do not fix there divots. So I go around And fix atleast 5-10 divots per hole. But that is the only disappointment of the whole experience. Overall this course I call my home course, wouldn't want it any other way.
Worth the Ride !
Played twice this past week and was impressed by the course design, conditions and the overall experience. A very challenging course in excellent condition.
You will need your A game (which I could not find) and enjoy the great value from Golfnow.
This course is a 3.8...gave it a 4
great signature par three hole! the toughest greens you may ever encounter; no way not to three putt at least twice! good price for a unique course and great challenge!
Pinion playable
Really enjoyed the course. Greens in great shape. Tee boxes for all levels .
Favorite Course To Play
The overall experience is almost always above par with my expectations.
great course, great price
Play this a couple times a year. Love it. One of the best layouts I've played. Greens were slow thank god. Course has some major slope in greens. They get faster throughout the year. Everyone who plays golf has to play here.
